Many of us like to ask some general questions about their weight and dieting plan.As I know , In the middle ages a fat lady was supposed to be the symbol of fertile mother earth and thus was considered beautiful. But now circumstances have been changed like, a women who walked with the heavy step of an elephant and solid busts considered less attractive and the idea to be as thin as a bamboo pole with solid busts came to be more attractive.

Some people say that exercising like cycling can make fat legs slim and trim. But according to me exercise makes matters worse. Avoid cycling which is a muscle-developing exercise. Even swimming and dancing aggravates matters. Exercise is under 2 headings: reducing and developing. People used to think if you drink plenty of water, you would become slim, but sometimes it does exactly the opposite. You retain water and that makes up fat.

Many people wants to firm up their stomach. For this you have to learn to brace it in and up, and you should not let it sag, like as if you are dropping it into a bag at the bottom of the tummy?The style of walking with the tummy-in behind-in by models is an exercise in itself. Do not walk with shoulders hunched.The tummy should be up and in , and the hips slightly forward. Also while walking, take a deep breath and pull your tummy muscle in. Exhale slowly, but do not let your tummy out. This will will remind you sagging all over the place! Sometime I stand before the bathroom mirror while I am washing my face or anything else, and I can see the pull in tummy exercise playing on the abdominal-muscles. Learn to do it automatically.But it is tiring to lift up your tummy like that because you are not used to using those muscles, but when it becomes second nature, it becomes easier. There are several exercises for the tummy. Lie flat, breathing deeply in and out. Divide each breath into 3 little jerks, pulling your tummy in at each little jerk. Let your breath out without buging the tummy. Do this in the few groups of 6, with a good rest in between.Lie down flat, hook your feet under a piece of furniture and put your hands under the head. Then try to rise to a sitting position without lifting the feet from the floor. Lie down flat keeping the knees straight and the toes pointing forwards. Move your feet so that the toes pointing up and, at the same time lift up the head to look. Then relax. Repeat the exercise 7 times. Some exercise about the ever expanding hips. Crouch with arms hunched about knees, as if you are getting ready to run a marathon. Then sway your body to and fro, backwards and forwards with emphasis on the leg muscles. You can also lie face down on the floor,, with the chin resting on the back of your hands. Then slowly lift your head up from the ground, which is quite difficult because at the same time you are trying to lift up your legs, one at a time also! Do this very slowly.

Now come to the thunder thighs. Actually they look extremly nasty instead of tasty. So that is why I am giving you a real nasty dose of exercises. Lie on your back and double your knees to your chest.Keep your feet together, then shoot both the legs about to right. Then slowly pendulum-wise, rotateyour legs to the left and then to original position again. Rotate your legs this way about 7 times to each side.Rest for a minute and then do some ait bicycling, with yourself still lying down. See, how a baby rotates its legs, follow the same procedure.A easy exercise for the thighs is stand straight, swing and touch your toes, left-right. Good fro your waist, good for your thighs.

Free Weights VS Machine exercise

Something you need to keep in mind and never forget
is that when you exercise, you are training for
life. You still may spend an hour a day in the
gym, although that will still leave another 23 hours
or so for your muscles to function without using
any fancy equipment.

Whenever you do any type of exercise, the movement
of your body during the exercise is known as the
range of motion. The more difficult the range of
motion is, the more effective the exercise will be,
because your body has to work twice as hard to
perform the movement.

Take for the instance the classic dumbbell bicep
curl. If you aren’t familiar with the exercise,
it is performed by standing up straight with your
palms facing forward, and a pair of dumbbells held
down by your sides. You’ll contract your biceps
to bring the dumbbells up to your shoulder height,
then repeat the exercise as many times as you wish.

Using that same movement for exercise on a bicep
curl machine, you should sit down, brace your
upper arms on a pad, grasp 2 handles that are in
front of you, then perform the same movement as
above to move the handles in an upward motion.

Now, looking at the muscle contractions in this
exercise, you are contracting essentially your
biceps if you are using the curl machine, and
that is pretty much all you are doing. When you
use the machine you are sitting down, which will
limit just how much your shoulders give. The
machine has several muscles used in this
exercise limited to the biceps, as well as
the muscles in your forearms and fingers.

Most of the time, when using machine weights, you
will always be limited as to what type of exercise
you can perform. You must always follow a strict
procedure, which is pretty much the same with
free weights. Unlike free weights, machine
weights offer a certain degree of resistance.

One of the best thing about free weights is the
fact that you move a little chuck around to
select the weight you want to use. Instead
of dragging it over to your exercise area,
you simply select it on the machine. When
you are tired during a workout, this can be
a blessing.

A lot of people argue in the fact that free
weights are the best for your body. While this
is normally true, many people out there feel that
machine weights are the best. There are pros
and cons with both machines, although free
weights have been around a lot longer and have
been proven time after time to achieve dramatic
results.

Body builders for example, have used free
weights over the years to build very impressive
bodies. If you ask most of them about machine
weights, they would probably laugh at you and
tell you that you need to quit joking around.

In a nutshell, free weights will use more of your
muscles than the machines do, which makes them
more effective overall. This doesn’t mean
that the machines are a waste of use, as they
offer some great advantages. In some cases,
it is best to stabilize the muscles that are
being used in a movement, which is where machines
are the best to use.

The decision on which to use for you should be
based on what you hope to achieve with lifting
weights and where you plan to use the equipment,
such as home or at a gym. Both systems are
great for your body, although the free weights
are best to use if you want the best possible
workout, and always ensure that your muscles
are getting the right workouts they need.

According to a recent survey almost a quarter of UK citizens are over weight but, says Cancer research UK, 25% of these are simply not interested in losing weight. We are in fact the second most obese nation in Europe, second only to Greece.

This not only concerns the UK Government, who have just announced a concerted campaign to tackle the problem via GP’s, but also the life insurance industry.

The problem is that many people are still sensitive about their weight. Sensitive to the extent that they’ll convince themselves that they’re sticking to a diet when they are patently not. The loss of a pound or two occasions celebration, whereas the same two pounds going back the next day remains unannounced. Ring any bells for you?

Well normally, a porky or two about your true weight doesn’t harm anyone – other than perhaps yourself. But now life insurance companies are having to take a much closer interest. They suspect that lots of people are telling lies about their weight on their life insurance applications.

Consequently, Scottish Provident, one of Britain’s biggest life insurers, is tightening up its application procedures. Now, as well as asking applicants how much they weigh, they’ll be asking when they last weighed themselves. It’s an attempt to encourage applicants to answer more accurately rather than pluck a figure out of thin air or being economical with the truth.

A spokesman for the insurer said, We know that people normally understate their weight, mainly because they are in denial about the subject, although there are also some people who will lie just to get cheaper premiums.

The British Medical Association classifies someone as obsess if their Body Mass Index (BMI) exceeds 24 but most insurance companies are now using 30 as their obesity definition. Above that figure and you’ll find that they’ll load your premium and even ask to have a medical examination. Anyone who is overweight could easily see their life or critical illness insurance premium loaded by up to 50% – and extreme cases, cover will be refused.

So, if you want to know your BMI, take your height in meters and multiply it by itself. Then take the result and divide it by your weight in kilograms. The result is your Body Mass Index.

Whilst BMI has become the accepted method of assessing someone’s weight, it does have limitations as it doesn’t discriminate whether the weight is being carried in fat or muscle. And a study of 33,000 adults reported recently in The Lancet, concluded that the medical profession’s over 24 BMI obesity definition could be raised to over 25 without harming health. That’s the equivalent of adding an extra half stone. Their research also found that only adults with BMI’s in excess of 35 suffered a pronounced lowering in life expectancy.

But in accepting a BMI level of 30, the life insurance industry has taken a cautious mid position. Well, if it was your money at risk, wouldn’t you?

Prevent Heartache, Use Anti-virus Software

Anti-virus software is a way of life in modern computing practices. In an environment where most computer users are blissfully unaware of security, a good anti-virus package is the first line of defense for your computer. There are several vendors who make and sell it, and all of them have excellent products.

Among the top vendors are Computer Associates, Symantec, McAfee and Trend Micro. Even Microsoft is getting into the anti-virus gig with Windows Protection. Microsoft’s recent acquisition of GeCad in Bucharest is the foundation of their offering, plus a bunch of other small vendors to handle other corners of the computer security panoply. Trillions of electrons have been inconvenienced on the internet as pundits are exploring Microsoft’s offerings in light of their historic “acquire and extend” strategy with utility software, and a number of pundits are wondering if, with the insecurities inherent in the Windows architecture, whether having Microsoft selling the anti-virus remedies that its OS makes necessary isn’t a bit of a predatory practice.

Most Anti-virus software works by running a deep scan on your computer, looking for telltale signatures of virus infection. As a result, they need a virus signature file, most of which are downloaded regularly from their sites. An alarming trend is that more and more of the major market leaders in this software segment are treating these signature files as proprietary information, rather than sharing it. This may result in a situation where you need more than one AV package for complete coverage. One of the interesting counter trends are the suites of free anti-virus software, like GriSoft’s AVG, which share virus definitions daily to give the most comprehensive coverage. It’s known that Windows Protection uses these announcements, but Microsoft doesn’t release its AV signature files for others to use.

The other scary trend is that the people who write viruses have graduated from vandals and script kiddies to organized crime. The Department of Defense treats virus protection very seriously (as anyone who’s used a DoD computer, and dealt with the security can attest), and they regard bot nets and DdoS (Distributed denial of Service) attacks as being very serious threats to our nation’s war fighting capabilities. This means that there’s now an incentive to make bigger and better virus software doing more things, and it’s getting harder to stop.

If you get hit by a virus that goes active, your options are very limited unless you have a regular backup procedure in place. The biggest cause of heartache in computing is inadequate backups. Even if it’s something relatively simple like backing up your working directory onto a DVD, it’s worth the effort. Fortunately, there are online subscription services that will let you back up your data over the internet. The first upload normally takes a long stretch of time, even over broadband. After that, they run as a background process and only update the things that have changed in your configuration. The new version of MacOS X, Leopard, has this sort of functionality built in with Time Machine. There is no equally easily usable version for Windows.

If you’re comfortable with opening up your computer’s case, and swapping out hard drives, there is a brute force backup you can do plug in an extra hard drive, and copy your Windows and User directories to it; you can use Windows Task Manager to set up an automated job to do this every week, copying only the files that are different, and it can be a life saver.
